It’s a first for us here at Overland, (but it is our tenth anniversary!) so we are delighted to welcome a couple who are bound to get the ‘longest distance’ award. Riding in to The Overland Event 2025 all the way from Singapore, are Nedine Mak and Haren Khatau!

They set off from home in January 2024 and have been slowly winding their way across Asia since then. They are currently in northern Europe, heading up to NordKapp for the summer solstice before coming south again to join us in Oxford.
They are travelling under the non de plume All Terrain Overlanders, so find them on socials if that’s your thing.
They first met in 2021, and were drawn to each other’s hunger for adventures off the beaten path. Haren was planning to ride his bike from Singapore to India, while Nedine envisioned an adventure in a van across Europe once post-covid borders reopened. But as it happens, and inspired by each other’s dreams, they combined ideas and embarked on an epic journey, riding both of their machines all the way from Singapore to Britain, before heading south through Africa. And then who knows!
Before they were full-time travellers, Nedine was a member of the legal team of Bytedance, the parent company of social media platform TikTok, while Haren was the technical lead at motorcycle manufacturer Mutt Motorcycles. It’s an absolute delight that although Nedine’s parents were horrified at the idea of her chucking away a legal career, let alone travelling by motorcycle, her dad has since got himself a bike and is planning a trip too.
They’re going to be showing some of their excellent photos and presenting some tales from the trip so far on Saturday evening, so here’s hoping they make it on time. Their current itinerary - punctures permitting – is that they arrive onsite Friday evening. It’s going to be close!
